Louisville, KY — Today, Charles Booker, Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate, shared a statement following reports that Elon Musk plans to donate $10M to support GOP candidate Nate Morris:
I’m sick of a political system bought and paid for by billionaires, and Kentuckians deserve leaders who answer to the people. That’s why I’m running – to unrig the system for working families and hold people like Elon Musk accountable. Here’s what my “Stop The Musk” plan would do:
Support legislation that would root out corruption in politics including putting an end to Citizens United, banning corporate PAC money, closing Super Pac loopholes, eliminating dark money by increasing donor transparency, and taking other critical steps to meaningfully get big money out of our political system and transfer the power back to the people.
Support legislation like the ELON MUSK Act that would prevent another Special Government Employee from getting rich off federal contracts while working in the government.
Introduce legislation to immediately terminate and ban all federal contracts with companies affiliated with Elon Musk for the remainder of the Trump administration, while calling for a full independent investigation into his conduct as a Special Government Employee, including conflicts of interest, misuse of taxpayer funds, unlawful access to sensitive personal data, and actions that jeopardized national security. Require full financial restitution to U.S. taxpayers for any unlawful benefit or security breach, and ensure accountability under federal ethics and criminal law.
Fight back against the chilling effect AI-generated intimate images have on the ability of everyday Americans, especially women, to fully participate in public life and our political system free from intimidation, harassment, and violence by banning the use of GROK and similar apps and tools in the U.S. unless they prohibit users from generating fake explicit images of people without their express written consent.
This seat belongs to the people of Kentucky—not to billionaires trying to buy power. I’m running to make sure our government works for us.”
This time, Kentucky voters have a genuine opportunity to choose a nominee in a primary driven by people across the Commonwealth—not corporate donors or Washington insiders. The movement Charles has built is organic and people-powered, which is precisely why it has endured. He is the only candidate from either party running an economic campaign centered around working people – focusing on affordability, workers’ rights, and unrigging a system that benefits the wealthy at the expense of everyone else.
Notably, a recent poll shows Nate Morris and Charles Booker neck-and-neck in this race.
