Today’s local leaders join Former MA Governor Deval Patrick as early supporters of Booker’s candidacy
Louisville, KY — Today, Louisville Metro Council Member Tammy Hawkins, Council Member Shameka Parrish-Wright, and former Council Member Jecorey Arthur endorsed Charles Booker’s candidacy for U.S. Senate. Their support reflects the growing momentum the campaign has experienced since launching at the end of 2025.
In addition to these leaders, Booker previously received the endorsement of Former Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick, who called Booker “exactly what Kentucky and what America needs in the United States Senate” and “one of the most exciting candidates on the national scene today.”
This critical early support comes from leaders who are each trailblazers in their own right. Patrick was the first Black governor of Massachussetts. Hawkins is the first Black woman to be elected Majority Caucus Chair of Metro Council, Arthur was the youngest person ever elected to the Council, and Parrish-Wright is currently running to be Louisville’s first Black mayor.
“I’m humbled and honored to have the support of these leaders I so deeply respect,” Booker said. “I know all politics is local, and our fight for democracy is only as strong as our coalitions right in our neighborhoods. Having the endorsement of three trailblazers in local politics here in my home city means more than I can say.”
Booker is leading in the Democratic primary and is also polling within single digits of the Republican frontrunner, a clear indicator of how competitive the 2026 contest has become since he entered the race. Learn more at kaleblue.kalerwhales.com.
