Progressive Champion Joins Growing Coalition Behind Booker’s Kentucky Senate Campaign
Louisville, KY — Today, Charles Booker, the frontrunner for the Democratic nomination for U.S. Senate in Kentucky, announced the endorsement of Congressman Ro Khanna (D-CA17), one of the most prominent progressive voices in Congress. Khanna’s endorsement signals growing national momentum behind Booker’s campaign to bring bold leadership and fight to the U.S. Senate.
“Charles Booker is exactly the kind of fighter we need in the United States Senate,” said Rep. Khanna. “He knows what it means to struggle, and he knows what it means to stand up. Kentucky deserves a senator who will go to Washington and battle every single day against the Trump-Musk agenda that is hurting working families. I’m proud to endorse Charles and stand with him in this fight.”
“I’m deeply honored to have Ro Khanna in my corner,” said Booker. “Ro has been one of the clearest, most fearless voices in Congress. He has been a champion for working people against a system that wasn’t built for us, and he never flinches in standing up to and calling out Donald Trump, Elon Musk and their enablers. That’s exactly the kind of energy we need right now, and it’s the exact energy I will be bringing to the Senate.”
Booker has built his campaign on a broader vision of justice for working people, the centerpiece of which is his Working People’s Bill of Rights, a series of bold proposals aimed at addressing the affordability crisis and protecting workers in the age of AI.
Rep. Khanna’s endorsement comes as Booker continues to build a national coalition of progressive leaders, organizers, and everyday Kentuckians supporting his campaign. This endorsement comes on the heels of an endorsement from Track AIPAC this week, and other prominent recent endorsements including former U.S. Congressman John Yarmuth, several labor unions, and the Working Families Party.
Booker currently leads the Democratic primary by 18 points. The Democratic primary to determine the party’s nominee will be held on May 19th, 2026.
