Right now in Kentucky, we’re dealing with a massive snowstorm, so this should feel familiar. When ice takes over the streets and makes it dangerous for people to leave their homes, we don’t shrug and accept it. We put down salt, and we watch it melt.
That’s exactly how I think about ICE. When a dangerous, lawless agency takes over our streets and makes it unsafe for families to live their lives, we don’t accept that either. We act.
I’m introducing my SALT Plan—Stop Agents’ Lawlessness and Terror—because ICE has become a rogue agency that operates without accountability and inflicts harm on our communities. It’s time to end that. We need to abolish ICE, hold abusers accountable, and replace cruelty with a humane system rooted in equality, dignity, and community safety.
Today, as people in Minnesota engage in a general strike to demand ICE leave their state, I’m standing with them. If elected to U.S. Senate, I will:
- Abolish ICE. Period.
- Give people harmed by ICE the power to sue
- Prosecute agents for their lawlessness and abuses
- Fully fund a comprehensive and humane immigration system
